A Company Rich in Industry History
TD Rowe Amusements (TDR) is the leading on-site game operator in the United States. Widely known as "The Entertainment Company," TDR is headquartered in Houston, TX, employs nearly 200 employees in 15 offices that serve 20 states coast-to-coast.
TDR has
has continually evolved and adapted in response to market demands during its more than 70-year history, providing unique business opportunities for its customers and exciting incentives for end users.
The company began in the 1930s as The Rowe Corp., a manufacturer of cigarette machines. In order to sell more machines, the company would back vendors in cities to get them started. Rowe owned most of each vending company, with the managers owning a small piece.
When the owner died 30 years ago, Canteen bought the whole company and sold off the manufacturing portion that is now Rowe International. They kept the vending operation, which by that time had expanded into other businesses besides cigarette vending.
In 1990, native Texan, Terry Davis, a former public accountant and oilman, acquired the firm. Much of the growth has been in the amusement sector, as the company has moved away from its roots in the cigarette business.
Because of the former relationship with Rowe, we wanted to keep the tradition of the name. Our attorney said, "Let's just add some initials in front of Rowe." That's how we became TD Rowe Amusements. |
